Jesus, Son of David

Reading: Matt. 1:1, Luke 1: 31-33 2Samuel 7:11-14
Also if you have time see God's Answer to David,

"The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ,
the Son of David, the Son of Abraham."
Matt 1:1

In Luke 1:31-33, Gabriel told Mary,

"... you will conceive... and bring forth a Son and shall call His name Jesus.
He will be... called Son of the Most High;
and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His Father David...
and of His Kingdom there will be no end."

This fulfills a promise made to King David in 2Samuel 7:11-14. David was dwelling in his beautiful house of cedar and decided to build a house for the Arc of God. He told this to Nathan the prophet who then said to do all that was in his heart for the Lord. But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan saying,

"Go and tell my servant David, 'Would you build a house for Me to dwell in?...
"The Lord tells you that He will make you a house.
"I will set up your seed after you,
who will come from your body,
I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
I will be his Father and He shall be My son" .
vs 5,11-14

David did not get to do his hearts desire to build a temple for the Presence of God to dwell in. But God made a way, through David, to build His own house to dwell among people. He fulfilled His promise to David in Jesus, Emmanuel meaning God with us... He dwelt (tabernacled) among us and we beheld His glory as the only begotten of the Father! He was the temple of God, the dwelling presence of God among mankind. When He died on the cross, the veil of the temple separating people from His Holy Presence, ripped from top to bottom, symbolizing access to us to the very presence of God, through the Cross of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!!!

Jesus is the Son of the Promise made to both Abraham and David, He is the seed who would come from their own bodies, and through their own lineage. As the Son of Abraham, He, as the Lamb of God, provided salvation through faith. As the Son of David Jesus is not only a Savior but a King, who will one day destroy all evil and will rule with His people over all the Universe in the New Heaven and the New Earth. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

In the age we live in, do you long for a just king?
Are you tired of corruption in our leaders?
Do you long for a society where there is no sin and love is the currency?
Do you long for a new heaven and new earth?
Do you long to live forever with our Risen King?

I sure do. Look to Jesus Christ. He will return in victory and majesty to sit on the throne of His ancestor David to rule and reign in true justice and peace.

"For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His government and its peace will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven's Armies will make this happen!"
Isaiah 9:6, 7 NLT
