The Throne in Heaven

Today's Reading: Revelation 4 & amplified;5 Ephesians 1:9,10, Col 1:19,20

In John's vision of the Risen Lord, Jesus tells him to write letters to the 7 churches in Asia. After that John looked "and behold, a door standing open in heaven." A voice called to him saying "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this. Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold a throne in heaven,..."

Read chapter four, only 11 verses to catch a glimpse of the glory of God, heaven and the worship of God.Then in chapter five,(14 verses), we see a scroll in the right hand of God and a strong angel proclaimed in a loud voice

"Who is worthy to open the scroll and loose it's seals?"
"I,(John) wept much,
because no one was found worthy
to open and read the scroll or look at it.
But one of the elders said to me 'Do not weep.
Behold the Lion of the Tribe of Judah,
the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll...
And I looked, and behold in the midst...
stood a lamb as though it had been slain...
He came and took the scroll out of the hand
of Him who sat on the throne.
Now when He had taken the scroll,
the four living creatures and
the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb...
and... sang a new song,
'You are worthy to take the scroll
and open its seals; For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood..."
Revelation 5:2-9

The Story of the entire Bible from Genesis through Revelation, the greatest story ever told in all of Creation, is God's love, mercy and redemption of fallen man. Written on this scroll is the the end of all the ages with everything brought to completion; where Christ gathers everything together in heaven and earth into one and reconciles them to God.
"... in the dispensation of the fullness of the times
He might gather together in one all things in Christ,
both which are in heaven and
which are on earthin Him."
Ephesians 1:10

"... and by Him to reconcile all things on earth
or things in heaven, having made peace
through the blood of His cross.
And you, who once were alienated...
He has now reconciled
in the body of His flesh through death,
to present you holy, and blameless,
and above reproach in His sight."
Colossians 1:20-22

"Behold! The Lamb of God,
who takes away the sins of the world!"
John 1:29

"Worthy is the Lamb... to receive power and riches
and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!
Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"
Revelation 5:11,13

Hallelujah!

I love this amazing scene in Revelation: One sitting on the Throne like a jasper and sardius stone in appearance, a rainbow around like an emerald, lightning, a crystal sea, The Lamb of God: worthy of honor and glory and power, 24 elders in white robes and gold crowns, four living creatures with 7 eyes which are the 7 Spirits of God and 7 horns, tens thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands of angels, harps, bowls of incense:which are the prayers of the saints, and a scroll which can be opened ONLY by the one who redeemed us by His blood. WOW!

It kind of points out to me how insignificant and unworthy most things are of our time and attention in comparison.

Amazing imagery, but even more is the profound story to unfold as everything in heaven and earth is reconciled to God.

We just don't fully get the vision, do we?

You're right Sheri... I'm praying I can more fully comprehend this reality of all things in heaven and earth being reconciled to God.

It's so fantastic to look at life from the Cross's vantige point. It's only when I forget to factor in His Blood Bought Redeemption, that I get wound around the axel about stuff:o)

So much imagery of the sacrificial lamb in these Scriptures... This Christmas a local church put on an extravagant Live Nativity. The last "station" was three crosses. At the foot of the middle cross was tied a sheep. She was very still. The impact was overwhelming and tears rolled down my cheeks...

It's so important to live with an eternal perspective in mind...
